Explanation
Cape Horn is the southernmost headland of the Tierra del Fuego archipelago of southern Chile. As such, it is the southernmost point in South America. The point was first passed by a Dutch expedition on 26 January 1616. It was named Kaap Hoorn after the city of Hoorn in the Netherlands.
