Prunes are dried plums. Plum trees originate in West Asia but can now be found all over the world. Prunes are primarly produced in Southern Europe or California, where they dry under the sun for a few weeks. Just like other dried fruit, prunes are perceived to be relatively healthy as they contain many antioxidants, vitamines and fibres.
