The Leaning Tower of Pisa is located on Piazza dei Miracoli in Pisa. It is on the UNESCO World Heritage list. Beside the tower, which functions as a bell tower, there is also the cathedral itself, the Baptistery and a covered churchyard. The tower started leaning shortly after construction began in August 1173. The tower measures 55.86 metres on its short side and 56.70 metres on its long side.
