Burundi is a country in central Africa. Burundi has had many twists between the two ethnic groups Hutu and Tutsi. These conflicts resulted in a bloody civil war that lasted from 1993 to 2003. The capital is called Bujumbura. The country has 9 million inhabitants and covers an area of 27,834 km2. Burundi used to be a Belgian colony, but gained independence in 1962.
