The Mona Lisa, or La Gioconda, was between between 1503 and 1506 by the Italian polymath Leonardo da Vinci (April 15, 1452 - May 2, 1519). It is now displayed at the Louvre in Paris, and is considered a high renaissance work. The Mona Lisa is probably the most famous painting in the world, and has for many years enjoyed a cult status - due in part to its enigmatic smile. Lenoardo da Vinci was a painter, sculptor, architect, engineer, inventor, botanist as well as an anatomist. He is considered a classic Renaissance man and genius.
